Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Solus iOS app and the services we provide alongside it. By using Solus, you agree to them. We've kept the language as plain as the law allows.

1. Who we are

Solus is operated by DMN Studios LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company ("Solus," "we," "us," "our"). You can reach us at [email protected]. Throughout these terms, "you" and "your" mean you, the person using the app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Solus. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf. Solus is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly accept accounts from them.

3. Your account

You create an account using Sign in with Apple or an email address. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe and for activity that happens under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us at [email protected] right away.

You can delete your account any time from Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and irreversible — see our Privacy Policy for retention details.

4. License to use Solus

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Solus app on Apple devices you own or control, solely for your own non-commercial spiritual practice. You may not resell, redistribute, reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where applicable law expressly permits.

5. Subscriptions and billing

Solus offers premium features through an auto-renewing subscription with two plans:

• Monthly — billed monthly
• Annual — billed yearly

Pricing in your local currency is displayed inside the app before you confirm. All purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple ID — we never see or store your payment details.

How auto-renewal works

• Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
• The renewal charge is billed to your Apple ID within 24 hours of the period ending.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.
• Free trials, if offered, convert into a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends.

Refunds

Apple handles all subscription refunds. To request one, use reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support. We do not have the technical ability to process refunds directly. If something has gone wrong on our end, email us and we'll advocate for you with Apple where appropriate.

6. Acceptable use

Solus is a space for reflection, prayer, and quiet connection with God. To keep it that way, you agree not to:

• Post, share, or send content that is unlawful, abusive, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, violent, or threatening.
• Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any group.
• Use Solus to promote self-harm, eating disorders, or suicide.
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the app, servers, or other users.
• Scrape, copy, or use the app's content (including generated devotionals) to train AI models or build competing products.
• Circumvent any security, paywall, or moderation mechanism.

Our full conduct expectations live in the Community Guidelines, which are incorporated into these terms by reference. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or termination — at our sole discretion and without prior notice in serious cases.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of everything you create in Solus: your mood entries, notes, journal, and any posts you share to the community. We do not claim ownership of your content.

By posting publicly to the community feed, you grant DMN Studios LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content within Solus for the purpose of operating the app. This license ends when you delete the post or your account.

Your private journal entries are not visible to anyone except you. We do not read, monetize, or share them.

8. Reporting and moderation

If you encounter content that violates these terms or our Community Guidelines, tap the menu on the post and choose Report. We aim to review every report within 24 hours and act on confirmed violations. You can also Block any user to remove their content from your feed immediately. We may remove content, suspend accounts, or terminate access at our discretion to maintain the integrity of the community.

9. Devotional content disclaimer

Solus is provided for inspirational and devotional purposes only. We are not licensed therapists, counselors, clergy, or medical providers. Nothing in the app constitutes medical, mental health, legal, or professional spiritual advice.

10. Third-party services

Solus integrates services from Apple, Supabase, OpenAI, Crossway (ESV API), PostHog, and Sentry. Your use of Solus is also subject to those vendors' applicable terms where they govern processing of your data. See our Privacy Policy for what each vendor receives.

11. Intellectual property

The Solus app, its name, logo, design, code, and original written content are owned by DMN Studios LLC and protected by US and international intellectual property laws. ESV Bible text is © Crossway, used under license through the ESV API. Generated devotional text is licensed to you for your personal use.

12. Termination

You can stop using Solus at any time by deleting your account. We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if continued service becomes legally or commercially impractical, or to protect the safety of the community. Where reasonable, we'll give notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive.

13. Disclaimers

SOLUS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT GENERATED DEVOTIONAL CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR THEOLOGICALLY EXHAUSTIVE.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DMN STUDIOS LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF SOLUS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF SOLUS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) US $50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DMN Studios LLC and its officers, members, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your breach of these terms, your misuse of Solus, or any content you submit through the app.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You and DMN Studios LLC agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of Solus will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose mandatory law gives you a different governing-law or venue right, that right applies and overrides this section to the extent required by law.

17. Apple App Store terms

These terms are between you and DMN Studios LLC — not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Solus app or its content. To the extent any of the following terms conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, the Apple terms control with respect to your relationship with Apple:

• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Solus.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to Solus, including product-liability claims, claims that Solus fails to conform to applicable legal requirements, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
• In the event of any third-party claim that Solus or your possession and use of Solus infringes intellectual property rights, Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, or discharge of the claim.
• You represent that you are not located in a US-embargoed country and are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the date above and notify you in-app or by email at least 7 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Solus after that date means you accept the updated terms.

19. Miscellaneous

• Entire agreement. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, are the entire agreement between you and DMN Studios LLC regarding Solus.
• Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect.
• No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
• Assignment. You may not assign these terms. We may assign them to an affiliate or successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
